Our projects aim to improve educational opportunities in Nicaragua. We consider education as a right that everyone should be entitled to, and we see it as key for sustainable development. We aspire to provide joy through education, particularly to children and teenagers, and support and motivate them in their learning process.
It all began in the library “La Casita del Árbol“ (The Treehouse), where the founders of Puente Nica worked as volunteers. Impressed by the children’s enthusiasm for knowledge, we were convinced that this project deserved financial support as well as manpower from Germany. The Treehouse has now become a well-visited cultural youth center in the heart of Tipitapa.
Another project we support is the library “Rostros, Colores y Sueños“ (Faces, Colors and Dreams) in the small village of Colama. The concept is similar to the Treehouse – both projects aim to provide space for education, creativity and exchange. Many children would like to have better access to education, but most often there is a lack of information and financial means to realize these goals.
Inspired by the work from our cooperating projects and a desire to reach more people, we started our first independent project in 2016, a library on wheels. This mobile library brings books, board games and activities to remote places in the surroundings of Tipitapa.
We are part of the Transparency International Deutschland e.V. (Transparency Germany) initiative.
